Go (Dave Holdredge Remix)

by Vocal Few

/

about

Dave Holdredge is an old friend who engineered my (Matt's) first three studio albums with The Classic Crime (Albatross, The Silver Cord and Vagabonds).

Grammy-nominated for his skills, Dave has a brilliant musical mind -- especially when it comes to arranging songs. His approach is playful and spontaneous, so I thought he would perfect for the job of remixing "Go." When I asked him, he immediately agreed, and a couple weeks later Kristie and I were grinning ear to ear as we listened to his initial mix.

Dave's interpretation brings a ton of energy and movement that serves to amplify the songs original concept of change being the only constant. This remix clarifies the initial inspiration of "Go" so well, and we couldn't be happier with it.

Stay tuned for more remixes from "Grand Pre" coming soon!

lyrics

Oh, the things our eyes have seen
And we're still wasting our time chasing dreams
‘Cause you’re either more alive
Or slowly dying
The only thing we know is we know nothing
But we still try

We’re ready to go
Say goodbye to our home
And now our bed is where we make it
Out on the road
We’re ready to go
And we don't even know
Whatever way the wind will take us
But our eyes are aglow
And we’re ready to go

Oh, our destination’s old
Tribal drums ring in the distance
Mark 400 years of friendship
And the path we take is older still
All our ancestors traversed it
Trading comfort for wilderness

‘Cause every savage is
Someone’s brave
And every path to life
Goes through the grave
It’s just one broken link
To break the chains
Words are spoken and then
Chaos is arranged

Go, say goodbye to your home
And make your bed in any place
That isn’t part of the show
You’re ready to go
When you don’t even know
Whatever way the wind will take you
But your eyes are aglow
